The third Festival of Daffodils at St. Johns Church, Tenby, is to be held over four days from Thursday, February 27, to Sunday, March 2.

As usual, the church will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on the first three days, and until lunchtime on the Sunday, but the culminating event of the festival, which celebrates our patron saint St. David, will be very popular Cymanfa Ganu on the Sunday evening (March 2). The usual date of March 1 for the Cymanfa Ganu has been amended this year because Tenby Male Choir, who have strongly supported the Cymanfa in the past, are singing at St. David's Cathedral on that day.

The programme for the festival is full of wonderful cultural events, including performances by the Welsh unit of the Infant School and the Junior School Choir (Thursday, February 27); a Ladies Network Rally (2.30 pm) and Noson Lawen with cawl (6 pm) on Friday, February 28; Tenby Band and Irish Dancers on Saturday, March 1, and Celtic Worship, followed by a Faith Lunch, on Sunday, March 2. The church will then be re-opened at 7 pm for the Cymanfa Ganu to begin at 8 pm.

The theme of the festival this year is 'Pembrokeshire Pilgrimage'. There will be many 'scenes' of places in Pembrokeshire depicted in daffodils and artefacts created by the flower arrangers and their gifted helpers.

Last year, well over 4,000 daffodils were used. Visitors came from far and wide to view the wonderful creative work of Mrs. Ann Maggs, the co-ordinator of the festival, and her team.

Posters and letters of invitation are being sent to various organisations around the county, and it is hoped that many people will be enabled to enjoy the celebrations as well as the floral displays and warm hospitality on offer.

Further details will be published in the Observer next week as events are finalised.

'In memorium' posies can be purchased from Mrs. Kay Apse, of St. Johns Church, at £2 each, by ordering them in advance and writing your own message on the card supplied.
