After the Introit, sung by the choir accompanied by Sheila Noot, Lara, of the junior church, welcome all to the service, which was being conducted by Mr. Phillip Vickery. The opening hymn was 'I heard the voice of Jesus say, come unto Me and rest'. All joined together in reading Psalm 8.
Mr. Vickery told the young people that the sun, moon and stars were the work of God's fingers. He asked them if they had ever made pots. That is how God made the planets - delicately. Did he put a designer label on them and what would God use as His label. When He made us He made all of us. A molecule, which is in many instances cross shaped, holds all our cells together. That is God saying 'I am with you, I'm part of you, I am your designer label'.
Following the young people leaving for their worship, Bron Hurlow read from 1 Peter, chapter 2, verses 9-10, and Romans, chapter 8, verses 14-22. Mr. Vickery produced a bucket of sand and referred to the words in Psalm 139 of God having more thoughts than there are grains of sand.
After prayers led by Mr. Vickery, he welcomed a large number of people visiting from Nottingham. He said a good reason to visit Wales was the fact that we had no prescription charges. It is like Christians on each side of the border. We all look the same, but work under different rules.
Did we believe, he asked, that God finished work when He had laboured for six days creating the world. No! He got up on the following Monday and got to work again and is still creating His kingdom and doing it through us. He is waiting for us to get our act together and make a difference.
Some people have changed history and other people have changed things in their own locality. We are meant to be out there changing others lives. The act of Jesus dying on the cross holds all things together. We need to be a link between people and God, reconciling people and nations. Holding the world together as Christians. We cannot do it without God's help and power.
After the closing hymn and the blessing, the choir concluded the service by singing 'God be with us 'till we meet again'.
Many thanks go to Mr. Vickery, for the message he gave us, and to all others who took part in the service.
This Sunday's service will be at 11 am and will be conducted by the worship group. All are welcome to attend.
