The choir, accompanied by Mrs. Sheila Noot, opened worship on Sunday with the Introit, "He is the way." Lara read the young people's call to worship, "We come to listen to the gospel and share its truth in our lives. Each day is a day that God has given us." She was thanked by the Rev. Nanette Lewis-Head, who added her own welcome with the words, "Let us celebrate the Lord." The opening hymn, 'From all that dwell below the skies, let the creator's praise arise', was followed by the congregational reading of Psalm 27, 'The Lord is my light and salvation'. Before the young people left for their own worship, Nanette wished Lara a very happy birthday and thanked her for her work in the church. The young people play a vital part in the life of the church; it is good to see them participate so fully. May God bless them and guide them as they mature into adulthood. Mr. Graham Powell then read from the gospel of St. John, Chapter 14, verses 1-14, and Peter, Chapter 2, verses 2-10. Peter never wrote to anyone in particular, he wrote to Christians everywhere. He called the early Christians to see themselves as living stones, the material for building a spiritual house and witnessing the unity of the Christian life. The Easter season is a time when we recall the work of the early Church, when through persuasion, testimony and miracle, the Apostles went out into the world and as a result of their witness called many people to a new life in Christ. What is God calling us to do? Nanette asked the congregation in her address. In the same way as those early Christians, we need to engage the gospel on a regular basis as a faith community. In this community where we find ourselves, we need to get to know its needs and be determined to meet them, not only on a Sunday, but at all times. That is when bridges are built, relationships formed and people are drawn in faith to know Jesus, the risen one: 'The way, the truth and the life.' It is through our relationship with him that we meet God. Thank you, Nanette, for leading us in faith towards the risen Lord. Before prayers of Intercession, Nanette wished Mrs. Gwenith James a very happy birthday on behalf of the congregation. She will be celebrating her 100th birthday this week. To conclude worship, the choir sang the blessing, 'May God Bless you', and the congregation shared the grace. Thank you Graham, Lara, Sheila and the choir, led by Melanie, for your contributions to worship. This Sunday's worship will be at 11 am and will be led by the Rev. A. Wilcox. All are very welcome.
