Worship for Transfiguration Sunday was led by Rev. Nanette Lewis Head who thanked Rachel Bonser for reading the opening sentences. Nanette, in her own words of welcome, said that it was good to have Mabel back in worship having recovered from her recent accident. The guiding passages of scripture were from Exodus 24 12-18 'Moses on Mount Sinai' and Mathew 17 'The transfiguration', both were read by Mrs. Liz storey. The sermon explained these passages, as well as the words of Peter found in his second epistle, where he recalls being with Jesus at the transfiguration. 'We have not depended upon made up stories in making known to you the mighty coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. With our own eyes we saw his greatness. We were there when he was given honour and glory by God the father.' Not all have exciting experiences of meeting with God like Moses and the disciples who were with Jesus, but all can share in the wonder by reading about them. All can have their own experiences of God and each one is important. In all of our stories, God is there, we must wait upon him as Moses and the disciples did. Closing words were: 'May we experience the touch of God in our daily lives. Each day he is waiting for us to give back in joy what he gave to us.' Prayers of intercession were followed by Holy Communion. Thank you Nanette and all who took part in worship, Rachel, Liz and the singing group who, with Mrs. Sheila Noot as organist, again enriched worship. We look forward to welcoming all who wish to join in worship this Sunday at 11 am when Nanette will again be leading.
