After the singing of the Inroit by the choir, words of welcome were read by Rachel Bonser, who was thanked by the minister, Rev. Nanette Lewis Head. The opening hymn was 'Come let us sing of a wonderful love' and then Nanette told the young people that the day's theme was to be based on the call of Jesus to His disciples. After they had left for their separate worship, Graham Stubbs read from Isaiah Ch. 49 verses 1-7, John Ch. 1 verses 29-42 and 1 Corinthinas Ch. 1 verses 1-9. Nanette said that she had chosen the hymn 'Just as I am without one plea' to lead into her talk, in response to Jesus' words 'The Lamb of God', Andrew immediately recognised him as a teacher. Without the disciples we would not be here today. Nanette asked 'Who brought you into the faith and who first taught you to pray'? John and Andrew were very different. John talked to the crowd, but Andrew went home and told his brother that he had met the Messiah and took him to meet Jesus. What are we looking for; what do we look for in our life? Can we be happy while the wider world is in turmoil? The disciples were called on a journey that would take them to the cross and an empty tomb. The invitation to 'Come and See' is an invitation to follow Christ, but not alone. We know there are times when we let down Jesus and His church. Jesus saw Peter's faults, but also saw his potential. Jesus' words were 'As the Father sent me, so I send you'. We must tell what God has done for us. Faith does not mean an easy life. The more you share your faith, the more you have. After the final hymn, the blessing was said to one- another and the choir sang a benediction. Many thanks go to Nanette for her thought- provoking words, and to all other who took part in the service. This Sunday's worship will be at 11 am and will be led by Rev. I. Williams. Everyone is welcome. Women's Fellowship: The Women's Fellowship meets on Tuesday at 2 pm in the small schoolroom. Nanette will take the meeting and be our speaker. This is a friendly gathering and a time to meet together in fellowship and to enjoy each other's company. Do come along and join us. Everyone is most welcome.
