The morning service began with the introit from the church choir and they were in fine voice following their involvement during the rendition of the 'Messiah' on the previous evening. The congregation were then welcomed to the service by Molly from the junior church and she invited everyone to 'Worship the King'. This morning service was conducted by Mrs. Audrey Scullard. The first hymn was number seven, 'Holy, Holy, Holy.' And this was followed by the reading of Psalm 93 by all. Audrey then asked the children if they were nervous about speaking in front of a lot of people. Only one said no and was then invited to take Audrey's place for the morning. No prizes for guessing who that was. When Jesus died, he left the Apostles as the only speakers to spread his word. In modern day terms, he pushed them in at the deep end. But they rose to the occasion and from such small beginnings the worldwide church was formed. Mrs. Molly Neate read from Samuel 2, Chapter 23, verses 1-7, and Matthew, Chapter 28, verses 16 -20. 'I am with you always to the close of the ag'. This was the theme for the talk by Audrey. The heart of the Christian faith is mystery and like looking into the sun to try and solve its mystery. It can't be done and solved by man. We were told to go out and speak to the world as there is no other way to spread our faith. We change over the years, but God does not; he is a constant. Remember his words, 'I will be with you always, day and night'. With Sheila Noot on the organ, the choir sang 'God be with you 'til we meet again'. The service this Sunday will be at 11 am and will include holy communion, conducted by the minister, Rev. Nanette Lewis-Head. All are welcome and it would be nice to see you there.
