After the choir, accompanied by Mrs. Pat Stubbs on the organ, sang the Introit, words of welcome were spoken by Lara, of the junior church. The theme for the day was to be 'prayer' and Nanette quoted words from Luke's Gospel, including the words 'knock and the door will be opened to you'. Nanette said that she was an expert on doorknockers of all kinds. She then suggested that the young people make a 'Prayer Chart'. After they had left for their studies, Bron Hurlow read from Luke chapter 11 and Colossians chapter 2 verses 6-15. Nanette's talk was based on prayer. She said that God's abundant love is all-embracing and more generous than we can possibly imagine. He can always be reached by prayer and He is always bothered about our lives. The Lord's Prayer is a model for other prayers. We need instruction and understanding in prayer which is a desire to communicate with God. It is a way of opening our hearts in conversation with Him. He always answers prayer, but not always in a way that we understand; sometimes it is just by listening to us. For each one of us, our walk with God and our praying are different. The foundation of prayer is a springboard to our relationship with God. The hymn which followed 'What a Friend we have in Jesus' reinforced her words. After prayers of intercession, the final hymn was sung by the congregation and the blessing said to each other. The choir concluded the service with a sung blessing. Thanks go to all who participated in the service and a special thank you to Rev. Nanette Lewis Head for once again giving a thought-provoking talk. This Sunday's service will be at 11 am and will be conducted by Rev. Lewis Head. Everyone is most welcome.
