Morning worship on Sunday was led by Rev. Nanette Lewis Head. This was the final day of the Daffodil Festival and worship took place amongst the beautiful arrangements and scent of the flowers. Even before entering the church, the festival was proclaimed with its banner and daffodil cross, illuminated to illustrate the theme for this year 'Light'. In the words of Mrs. Ann Maggs, festival organiser, "Light - Love of God for Today." The church in its beauty demonstrated the thought, care, dedication and sheer hard work of those who had been responsible. Many different talents had been used, not only the flower arrangers, but electricians, very important this year, computer and printer buffs and general handymen and women. Morning worship reflected this sharing of talents, too; through the gifts of music (instrumental and choral), through readings and the leading of prayers. This was real family worship, as young and old participated in exploring the theme of light. Holy Communion was celebrated, during which the young people received a blessing before the final hymn of praise, 'Shine Jesus Shine'. Worship was not quite over, as the young people led a cheerful version of 'This little light of mine'. More talents were at hand as friends shared a faith lunch, gifts of food prepared by willing hands, not forgetting those who made drinks and washed up. The festival came to a resounding close on Sunday evening with a Gymanfa Ganu. A big thank you to all who have made this festival so worthwhile and such a deep spiritual experience in the life of St. Johns. Individual names have not been mentioned in this report, as every contributor has had their part to play. We shall not be surrounded by daffodils next Sunday, but worship at 10.30 am, which will include an infant baptism, will be led by Rev Nanette Lewis Head and will be as warm and welcoming as ever.
