ST JOHNS CHURCH

Worship on Sunday, January 21 marked the beginning of the week of prayer for Christian unity. The theme this year is based on the words of Jesus "I am the way, the truth and the life." Rev. Nanette Lewis Head said that these words would be the theme for our worship.

She began by talking to the young people about how we find our way about by reading a map, but on our Christian journey we need God to help us to find the way through the Bible, prayer, friends and the fellowship of the Church.

Birthday greetings were given to Angharad who celebrates her 8th birthday.

The Old Testament lesson was Psalm 84 and was read by the whole congregation. The New Testament lesson was from John 14, 1-14 "Jesus the way to the Father." Thank you to Mrs. Bron Hurlow for this reading.

In the sermon, Nanette further developed the theme of the worship. Christians meet under different names and in different places, but one thing unites, that is the belief that "Jesus is the way, the truth and the life."

The closing words , "May we be part of the Church of Jesus Christ that proclaims the truth" summed up the positive meaning of unity. Thank you Nanette.

Worship will again be led by the minister on Sunday, January 28 at 10.30 am. The meeting for Prayer and Bible study will take place on Thursday at 10.30 am in the vestry. The group is studying Galatians at present.

The young peoples Pilots group will meet on Friday from 6. to 7.30 pm.
