Last Sunday, the Holy Eucharist service was celebrated by the Vicar, the Rev. V. F. Millgate, who said in his sermon that all the appointed readings of the day, defined how God wanted our churches to be today. The church should be a place of love, a family of love, God gives us all various talents and abilities which we can use to further His work. Without God we have no strength, we draw our strength from the Bible, from Christ and his example. We should do things in a humble way in the wisdom of God with the support of others, a family in the church that those outside look in at and want to become part of.
During the service, at the request of the Bishop, our two church wardens were sworn in. David Henderson continues as people's warden and Ray Hughes became vicar's warden. The Rev. Millgate thanked our retiring vicar's warden, Glyn Rixon, and spoke with great gratitude to Glyn for his many years of dedicated service.
Please note: There is no service at St. James this week, but there is a very important service at Monkton Priory commencing at 10.30 am when Bishop Wyn will be holding a confirmation service which hopefully you can attend.
