The Holy Eucharist last Sunday, the second in Advent, was celebrated by the Rev. Robin Webley. In his sermon, he spoke of the preparations we make in Advent for the coming of Christ. In our daily lives we prepare for many things, meals, meetings, choir practice, exams etc, and hope for a good result from our efforts. We take out insurance on our property and possessions to protect us from what may or may not happen. He said how strange it would be if we as Christians did not prepare for what we know will happen, our departure and judgement. The Rev. Webley referred to the readings for the day, Isaiah 11, 1-0, Romans 15, 4-8 and Matthew 3, 1-12, that showed how God was preparing the world for his son through the Prophets and John the Baptist. In Advent we should be repenting our sins and preparing for the coming of Christ. Our thanks go to the Rev. Webley for his services during our vicar's absence at this time. This Sunday, December 16, we celebrate our Carol Service at 6 pm. A very warm welcome is extended to everyone to come and enjoy this occasion.
