The Family Communion service last Sunday was conducted by the vicar, Rev. Victor Millgate. His sermon was based on the readings for the day, Jeremiah 31, 31-34, and Timothy 3, v 14. The vicar said that Paul's letter to Timothy was a message of encouragement, that Timothy should continue preaching and spreading the Gospel of Christ, despite those who did not seem to listen, care or hear. The message of this letter is as real today as it was then, that those who choose to walk in God's love and are committed to the 'New Covenenant' in Jeremiah should be evangelists and share his message of love with everyone by example in our daily lives. During our time of prayer we reflected on the dreadful tragedy in our community last week. Prayers were said for Maria Sutton and her family, that God's love will surround and strengthen them at this sad time. A varied selection of Fairtrade goods was available for purchase after the service. The service this Sunday is Holy Eucharist at 11.15 am and will be celebrated by the Rev. Robin Weble. A warm welcome is extended to all. If you would like a lift to any services at St. James' Church, please ring 871604 and this will be arranged.
