St Issells is preparing for the ‘We Will Remember Them’ events in Church next week.

Along with the Vigil for peace on Tuesday and the Requiem Mass on Friday evening, we have two more less formal events.

On Wednesday at 6.30 pm the Year 6 pupils from Saundersfoot CP School will be performing a radio play. We are delighted to have the school helping with our events and indeed we are looking forward to the displays they will be providing in the Church.

On Thursday, November 8 the members of the congregation are taking part in a drama-fest. We have a collection of songs, comedy, poems and letters both to and from the Front, including memories from both sides of the conflict. It will be both an interesting and entertaining evening. Doors open at 6pm and entry is free. Please do come along and support us and maybe also learn something new.

During the week we are promoting the book ‘The Half-Shilling Curate’ which is written by Sarah Reay who was born and educated in Pembrokeshire.

For any copies of the book which are ordered during the week St Issells will receive a £5 donation from Sarah. The book tells of the experiences of Sarah’s Grandfather who was a Wesleyan Army Chaplain during the First World War. We are grateful for Sarah’s support and were delighted to meet her during a visit to Saundersfoot in the summer.

From November 5 to 16 the Saundersfoot and District Historical Society are providing us with an exhibition to commemorate the Armistice. It will provide biographical details of all those in the Parish who lost their lives in the conflict. The Church is open every day for you to enjoy the displays.

We extend a warm welcome to everyone to join us not only during the week at 6.30 pm but also at the annual Community service by the War Memorial on Sunday, November 11 at 11.45 am and afterwards for a short service in the Church.
