A Pembrokeshire community has scooped a national award.

The village of St. Florence has won the Wales Information Technology category in the 2002 Calor Village of the Year for England and Wales.

At a prestigious awards ceremony attended by HRH The Princess Royal and hosted by television presenter, John Humphrys, at the Millennium Hotel in London, delegates from St. Florence were presented with their prize and a commemorative certificate.

The judges remarks included comments about the contribution of the village school in allowing access to accommodation and equipment for computer courses, local businesses for the provision of computers and the community council for their help and support.

Recent efforts in IT have resulted in a village website being produced through which information can be provided for local people and also potential holidaymakers.
