If you’re sick of the sight of brussels sprouts from over the festive period - then St Florence might be the place to head to shake off a festive food hangover - as the village holds it’s inaugural ‘Swede Roll’ event all for a worthy cause!

The competition in aid of refurbishing the playground at St Florence Village Hall will take place on Saturday, December 28 starting at 2 pm.

“The playground is in desperate need of an update and we hope to do a complete renovation which will provide a much needed resource within the village and also cater for the needs of disabled children,”?explained Kathy Duffield.

“Our fundraising efforts to date have been very successful and we’re hoping that the Swede Roll will become a yearly fixture.

The event promises to be a lot of fun and a chance to get out in the fresh air between Christmas festivities and New Year.

There will be competitions for adults and children and also - something to keep the children occupied beforehand, so get creative and bring a decorated swede to enter competition!

Refreshments will be available including hot dogs, cakes, hot chocolate, mulled wine and alcohol. A raffle will also take place on the day.

Entries are £2 and Mark McSweeney will be providing commentary.

There will be a marquee on site but if the weather is dreadful then the organisers have listed the follwing day (December 29) as an alternative date to hold the event.
