Over 60 parents, governors and guests dined in style last Wednesday as pupils of St. Florence School opened their 'Players Pitch' restaurant in the Village Hall.

Pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 planned, costed, prepared and served a three-course meal for the guests as part of an innovative new Run a Restaurant mini-enterprise project.

Designed to introduce young people into the concept of running a business and to raise awareness of the hospitality industry, the Run a Restaurant project is the brainchild of the Education Business division of Careers West Wales and the Western Mail Newspapers in Education Mind Your Own Business scheme.

St. Florence was delighted to take part in the project as it was seen as an integral part of the school's ongoing campaign to become a health promoting school.

In addition to arranging the meal for 64 guests, pupils were also involved in designing the menu, seeking sponsorship and visiting the catering department of Pembrokeshire College.

Staff and pupils at the school are extremely grateful to the following for their support:

Peggy Devey; Julie Davies; Kerry Rees; Alison Rees; Frank Short; Nigel Brickell; Lorna Greasley; St. Florence Village Hall management committee; Rees Bros.; Mrs. Ryan, Wisebuys; Craig's Dairy, Tenby; J. V. Rowe and Sons; Mr. T. Fraser; Mr. and Mrs. Collier; Safeway Stores, Haverfordwest; Tesco Stores, Pembroke Dock; Mr. and Mrs. Bean; and Mr. and Mrs. J. Webb.
