Seven councillors and County Councillor Kidney were present for the September meeting of St. Florence Community Council.
One space still remains on the council and two letters from interested parties were received. The clerk read both letters to the council and votes were cast anonymously. The council look forward to welcoming Mrs. Susan Phillips to the next meeting.
A letter from the current person cutting the village verges was received. He wishes to end his contract, so the clerk was asked to put a sign in the notice board inviting any interested parties to contact her regarding the contract.
Councillors discussed land at the old cemetery being used to house chickens. The land belongs to the United Reformed Church who would look into the matter.
It was discussed that lockable storage in the garage for clubs who regularly hire the hall could be an option, with a charge to hire them.
A quote was received from the caretaker to carry out such work and it was proposed by Clr. Evans and seconded by Clr. Adams to carry out the work. All councillors were in favour.
A skip would be needed to clear rubbish in the garage. The clerk would look into this.
Planning application: Erection of 14 dwellings south of Longstone. Outline planning permission had been granted. Councillors discussed the fact that this had been granted, even though there had been numerous complaints.
Correspondence was received from the Community Health Council which Clr. Buckmaster would read over.
Information in the form of a brochure on the proposed civic amenity site in New Hedges was looked at by the council.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 9, at 7.30 pm, at the village hall. Please note this is not the first Tuesday in the month as usual, but the second.
