Among matters discussed at this month's meeting of St. Florence Community Council, held at the Village Hall, were the following:

PROGRESS ON ONGOING ISSUES

Two grants were obtained from the Sports Council Wales and Awards for All Wales to upgrade the Village Hall facilities to comply with new health and safety regulations.

A sub-committee would be formed, in an advisory capacity, of representatives from all groups and clubs using the hall to compile a schedule of all requirements for upgrading the facilities.

A Business Plan would be formulated, utilising the information obtained from the distribution of yellow questionnaires, to generate more usage and income from the hall by residents of St. Florence. A quote was to be obtained to repair the floor alongside the new wall outside the hall.

The council approved that a rota be set up to clean the hall once a week.

Information was supplied to councillors regarding the review of Town and Community Boundaries in preparation for when decisions had to be made during 2007.

A further quote was being dealt with for the removal of trees that could cause damage at various sites in the village.

The 1284 (Tenby) Squadron Air Training Corps were to be approached to inquire whether they would be prepared to maintain the War Memorial situated within the churchyard. Pembrokeshire County Council was to be approached regarding dispensation in declaring interests by councillors.

PLANNING

There were no objections to an application to demolish an outbuilding and erection of dwelling at a barn near Gumfreston Farmhouse, Gumfreston, Tenby.

Notification was also received that Pembrokeshire County Council had refused an application for construction of accommodation units for use in conjunction with the sports park at Heatherton Country Sports Park, St. Florence.

CORRESPONDENCE

PLANED advised of an advertising facility for festivals and events during 2007. CCTV4U introduced themselves as a company in Pembroke Dock.

Pembrokeshire Youthbank asked for funding support, as did Pembrokeshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

The trees before the bus shelter on entering St. Florence were hanging into the road hitting lorries and the bus shelter needed upgrading. Welsh Water had covered road signs with black bags, causing confusion when they were lit. Rainwater was bypassing the drains at St. Florence and Gumfreston.

Hedge cutting near the school was causing mud to develop on the road.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 12, at 7.30 pm at St. Florence Village Hall.
