Prior to the recent meeting of St. Florence Community Council, a short presentation was held by PLANED, which out-lined various funding opportunities available to the community. It was stated that a visioning exercise was to be held in January when local residents would be invited along to highlight various opportunities which would benefit the village and community. When the monthly meeting commenced members were advised that the planning application for Gumfreston had been withdrawn. The community council were thanked for all their support by all the residents of Gumfreston. A letter from Welsh Water was read out in following the community council's query concerning the water usage at the former New Inn. A further letter was to be written to Welsh Water requesting clarification of where the storm water would be disposed of. A copy of the Welsh Water letter and the council's own letter were also to be sent to the county council. Members were informed that the proposed new noticeboard at Gumfreston should be big enough to hold four A4 sheets of paper and should if possible have a glass front. The chairman thanked the working party for their work carried out in spreading the chippings by the Old Mill The clerk was to follow-up with the county council the queries regarding the 'dead' tree on the road to Gumfreston. The clerk was to find out what precept St. Florence Community Council had requested last year and produce a simple summary of what the money had been spent on. The chairman showed the council a sample replacement chair. It was resolved that 24 chairs be purchased at a cost of £36. The chairman was to view the tables and report back to the next meeting. The clerk was to remind the county council that the 'No Dogs' signs were still required for the playing fields. A response had been received from the county council highlighting the issue of rubble and waste material, which had been dumped on ground near Greenhill Hotel. A letter had been written to the county council to try and ascertain who was responsible for the removal of the rubble. The county council had advised county councillor Calver that they could carry out the work to trim back the branches on the other side of Eastern Lane. He also advised the meeting that the county council had agreed to place an additional light on a spare pole on the path running behind Parsonage Farm sometime in the future. The clerk was to write to the licensing department of the county council for the guidelines regulating 'First Aid' boxes under the Public Entertainment regulations.
PLANNING APPLICATIONS
Heatherton Country Sports Park - mobile platform, which would be used for climbing and recreation purposes (objections on the grounds that members did not feel that the location of the platform was suitable. The plan showed the platform would be located right next to the main road and could be an eyesore, as well as distraction for traffic travelling on the main road into Tenby and also entering and leaving Heatherton.) Avalon - proposed en-suite shower rooms, conservatory and detached garage (no objection). Ty-Jarran, Halwell Lane, St. Florence - extension to dwelling (objection on the grounds that the extra development would add to the existing problems being experienced with the sewerage system/pumping station in this part of the village.) CORRESPONDENCE
There was no update on the future of the flyer available at that time. The chairman read two estimates from local companies to replace the old oil tank. Further information was to be obtained before a decision would be reached by the community council on which one to accept. Correspondence from county councillor M. Calver was read out and discussed concerning declaration of interests of councillors. The clerk was to supply councillors with further information and this would be discussed at the January meeting. It was agreed to allow Carew Cricket Club to hire the cricket ground during the next season, as long as they were covered by their own current insurance policy and supplied the community council with a current copy. It was proposed by Clr. D. Griffiths that the hiring fee should be £20. This was seconded by Clr. P. Rice. The clerk was to write to Carew Cricket Club and advise them that they could use the grounds. The community council would write and advise them of the conditions at a later date.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
A number of councillors voiced concern at the rising level of vandalism being experienced at the Village Hall. The local police had advised that all acts of vandalism, which occurred, should be reported to them and a record would be kept on file. It was suggested that if possible councillors should call at the hall on their journeys into and out of the village to keep a check on it. It was also agreed that every incident should be reported to the police and this act would have the full backing of the whole council. Enquires were to be made with the previous Youth Club leader as to whose responsibility it was to remove the skateboard equipment as it needed to be removed promptly. It was noted that some maintenance work was needed to the Village Hall which should be looked at in the future.
