The clerk was to contact the electrical contractors in Tenby to instruct them to carry out a new electrical inspection on the Village Hall to comply with the public entertainment licence and also to inspect the lights outside the village hall and carry out works to repair them. The moles on the playing field had been dealt with again and further quotations were to be sought for the fencing works along the boundary. The clerk was to write to the booking clerk and advise her that in future the Village Association should be charged when using the Village Hall for fund raising and social functions. Clr. K. Nixon volunteered to monitor the inside of the hall and the role of the booking clerk would be discussed further. Following a quotation for works to be carried out with regards to shrubbery around the village, it was decided to instruct works to be carried at the following locations: Sunningdale/Parsonage, together with the Post Office Bank. Further works within the village would be considered later in the year. Following a request from the council, a breakdown of the receipts and expenses relating to the carnival held by the Village Association in 2003 was available for councillors inspection. The clerk was to contact the Environment Agency concerning the fallen trees by the Old Mill. Following a discussion, it was agreed to propose a 50/50 split with the Village Association over the purchase of the new noticeboard. The chairman had received forms relating to the Village Hall account from Lloyds Bank for amendment. The three new signatories on the Lloyds Bank account would be Clrs. P. Rice, D. Evans and J. The following planning applications were considered: Fern Cottage - extension (no objection): Lillimoor farm - domestic garage (no objection); Carn Springs, Devonshire Drive - siting of a mobile home for residential accommodation for manager/supervisor (although the community council understood the need for daytime facilities, they did not support permanent residential occupation at this location.) Correspondence was received from residents in Gumfreston, which was read out and noted. Some of the queries had already been directed to Clr. Carol Cavill, who represents the Gumfreston Ward, who would try and resolve some of the queries raised. Members agreed a thank you letter should be sent. The community council discussed a letter, which had been received from an interested party to be considered for maintenance works, needed within the village. The clerk was to write a letter of thanks and advise him that he would be kept in mind if the council had any need of his services in the future. The servicing of the fire extinguishers in the Village Hall was to be carried out as soon as possible in order to comply with the insurance policy and the public entertainment licence. The condition of the showers and toilets were brought to the council's attention. An estimate was to be obtained for the cleaning of the showers and toilets in time for the next council meeting. A further quotation for chippings was to be obtained for the area by the Old Mill. This would be discussed further at the council's next meeting. Concern was raised that dogs were still fouling in the village. Areas of particular concern were the High Street, Fiddlers and the playing fields. Some dogs had been seen roaming the village unattended on a frequent basis. As a result, the dog warden was to be advised. The date of the next meeting is September 20, at 7.30 pm.
