Following a very busy weekend at St. Johns Church, Tenby, when members of the pastorate group of churches come together to meet and greet Rev. Christopher Tolley, who came to 'preach with a view' on Sunday, the next special event at the church will be on St. David's Day, March 1, when Tenby Male Choir will be opening their concert season for 2012 by singing a Welsh themed repetoire on behalf of St. Johns' church funds.
Church members and friends are delighted to know that one of our own younger church members will be the guest artist at the concert.
Lara Thomas is a pupil at Ysgol y Preseli and is studying for her GCSE's, being now in Year 11. In addition to her school studies, Lara studies music with Lisa Richards, who was a young solo guest artist at many Tenby Male Choir concerts herself. A busy and talented young woman, Lara plays more than one musical instrument, but will play violin on the evening of March 1. A fluent Welsh speaker, Lara has many 'strings to her bow,' but in this concert, she will be making her first solo appearance at a concert open to the public at St. Johns.
Tenby Male Choir continues to grow in numbers and it is clear from their very busy 2012 schedule, that they grow in popularity, too. Following their first concert of the year on Thursday, March 1, they will sing again in Tenby on March 31 at St. Mary's in a joint concert with a visiting Australian 'Welsh' choir.
The concert on St. David's Day will begin at 8 pm. Payment will be taken at the door of the chapel. Because of exciting redevelopment plans at St. Johns, this could possibly be the last concert in the sanctuary of the church before building works begin.
So, for an excellent way to celebrate St. David's Day, come along to St. Johns on the evening of Thursday, March 1, in good time for the concert at 8 pm. You will not be disappointed!
