TROT women ran to retain their title of Gwent Cross Country League Champions recently.
Pictured (from left) are Helen Williams, Caryl Jones, Megan Thomas, Caroline Jones, Anne Rowell, Pauline Thomas (captain), Melissa Watson, Anne Thomas, Mary Bowen-Rees and Kirsty Murray. Missing from the picture are Lindy Eynon and club cross country manager Jan Morris.
The title was achieved through results gained over five meetings in Bristol, Taunton, Bath, Brecon and Bridgend.
Anne Thomas ran as reliably as ever to complete the season in second place in the open women's category, with Mel Watson achieving a very creditable sixth, despite her birthday putting her in the over 45s halfway through the season. Next year's over 45s had better watch out!
Mary Bowen-Rees and Caroline Jones had a battle for the season's over 45 title, with Mary taking first place in the end.
Caryl Jones battled her way through injury to win the under 23 championship and finished high in the senior league, despite being forced to miss two meetings.
Pauline Thomas completed her ninth cross country season to finish at the top of the over 65 category.
TROT running club meets regularly on Thursdays at St. Clears Leisure Centre.
