A Sri Lankan movie meal night is being staged at Picton Castle on Wednesday, June 15. The format of the evening will include an update presentation on the current situation in Sri Lanka, which hit badly by the Boxing Day tsunami, what is happening with the aid money and projects that have taken place. This will be followed by a delicious Sri Lankan meal of traditional curries and local dishes, then a film 'Death on a full moon day', which has received much acclaim and won awards at various film festivals. A beautiful film shot in 32mm, it captures some of the essence of what makes Sri Lankan culture what it is. The evening is being hosted by Bryony Rich and Darren Knipe, both of whom have strong local connections. Bryony, who hails from Narberth, has a guest house in Hikkaduwa, which was severely hit by the wave, and was herself caught up in it. The aim of the night is to give an insight into life there, and to look at tourism from a community level which is giving the current situation out there, the best kind of aid support. There are limited spaces for the evening (50-60 only), so if you are interested, please contact SPAN in Narberth to book your place on 869323. The event begins at 7 pm and tickets are £15.
