Plans are in the pipeline to spruce-up one of the gateways into Tenby. Town councillors are to meet with Mr. Rhodri Jenkins, Pembrokeshire County Council's area municipal services manager (south) to discuss enhancing The Green. Ideas to improve the area include erecting new fencing and planting new flowers and shrubs. Pembrokeshire County Council have submitted a quote of £26,000 for replacing the fencing, plus £700 - £900 for work on each raised border. The work will be funded by the town council. "The Green is a very important part of the the town," said Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, when the proposed project was discussed at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council. "Everyone who comes to Tenby passes there and it is the second impression visitors get of the town after the 'Welcome to Tenby' sign," she continued. Members were concerned at the cost quoted by the local authority, and decided to meet with Mr. Jenkins to discuss the various options, including using recycled furniture and fencing from elsewhere in the county, and phasing undertaking the work.
