SPAN Arts is delighted to announce that Jamie Smith’s Mabon will be performing at The Queens Hall, Narberth, on April 29, for a night of spine tingling Celtic sounds.
Join us for a fun-filled evening as part of our exciting SpringFest and continue our spring celebrations with original music steeped in inter-Celtic sounds. Uplifting jigs and driving reels sit alongside haunting love-songs and sing-along choruses; add Russian bears, Austrian weekends and Galician notes for a World Music tour by a truly international acoustic quartet of fiddle, accordion, guitar and percussion with serious Welsh roots.
Consisting of Jamie, lead vocalist and accordion player and his four firm friends who help to bring his compositions alive in virtuosic style: Oli, a Welsh fiddler with Balkan flair; Paul, a guitarist from Wales who is more Manx than plenty of people born on the Isle of Man; Matt, a bluegrass-loving bass player from Carmarthen; and Iolo, a drummer from the Welsh woods with a passion for world music and jazz.
This unique band draws from the musical influences of each member. The band is in constant pursuit of integrity in seeking to explore the music that gives them - and their listeners - joy. Mabon’s live performances continue to wow audiences; their most notable performances include WOMAD, Womex, and Shetland and their exuberance and energetic sets are one major reason for their success and increasing popularity.
Mabon are an absolute must see, don’t miss out on their wonderful original music through inspired composition, skillful arrangement and exceptional performance of Celtic tunes.
