Staff from Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust had an opportunity to learn about leading developments in health service modernisation at a keynote conference held in Haverfordwest last week.

Nearly 100 health professionals from Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion attended the event held at the Withybush Hospital Conference Centre to highlight successful innovations in modern NHS services.

Said Pembrokeshire & Derwen NHS Acting Trust Chief Executive, Caroline Oakley: "This conference gives our staff access to some of the leading figures and cutting-edge developments in the modern health service. By showcasing practical, successful examples of initiatives that are working and making a difference, we can ensure these ideas are understood and adopted to produce higher standards of patient care."

The conference was opened by the Director of Health and Social Care in Wales and Chief Executive of the NHS in Wales, Ann Lloyd, and featured a number of well-known healthcare speakers, including the HR Director for NHS Wales, Ian Stead, National Officer for Managers In Partnership, Mr. Andy Hardy, NLIAH Performance Coach, Moira Morgan, and the Diversity Manager for Gwent NHS Trust, Jill Evans.

Trust speakers included Risk Manager, Steve Nessmann, Clinical Risk Facilitator, Barry Clarey, and Leadership and Management Development Facilitator, Mark Hunter. In addition, a number of custom-designed workshops were also held to share practical experiences, learn best practice and network with others at the forefront of healthcare modernisation.
