Division One
After being bowled out for a meagre total of 24 on Bank Holiday Monday, Narberth appeared to be heading in the same direction on Saturday in their home match with Haverfordwest.
There was the familiar clatter of early wickets until Marc Hughes staged his one man rescue act with a breath-taking innings of 124 to steer his team to a total of 191 for 8.
Hughes dominated the bowling to such an extent that the next highest score was that of Daniel James with 15. Hughes faced 124 balls and hit seven sixes and 11 fours in a superb counter attacking innings.
He received support from his brother Ian with 11, Daniel James with 15 and Gary Hughes with 14. Paul Thomas was the pick of the Town bowlers with a spell of three for 18 from 11 overs.
After the match Town skipper Jonathan Twig described the innings of Marc Hughes as the best he has seen against Haverfordwest in a decade.
The Narberth team had an unfamiliar look with a number of regulars missing, but the players rose to the occasion. Ian Hughes caused problems with his 3 for 16 spell from 12 overs, Richard Prout making his bowling debut for the first team took two for 12 in 10 overs and Richard Howell who has not bowled for the first team for five years took 2 for 24.
Haverfordwest struggled to stay in the game and they were indebted to left hander Phillip Kirkby who scored 82 not out from 98 deliveries. The next highest scorer was skipper Jonathan Twig with 11.
Kirkby kept his team in the game and managed to salvage a draw with some help from the lower order and Haverfordwest were 120 for nine at the end of the game.
Carew had an excellent six wickets win at Llangwm after restricting the home team to 155 for 5.
The Carew bowlers imposed a stranglehold over the Llangwm batsmen, although George Thomas did increase the tempo towards the end of his innings of 75 not out.
He received support from Alastair Platten with 22. Robert Scourfield took two for 30 for Carew who reached 159 for 4 in reply with Nick Scourfield undefeated on 70 including 11 fours supported by Simon Wood with 46. Llangwm skipper Darren Brick took 2 for 30.
Whitland travelled to Cresselly and found the Arthur brothers in free scoring mode as Cresselly stroked their way to 234 for four.
Damian Arthur had a splendid innings of 76 and Julian Arthur a swashbuckling innings of 62. The Arthur brothers received support from Adam Chandler with 30 not out, Ryan Lewis 22 not out and Simon Cole with 22.
Meyrick Rowlands was the most penetrative Whitland bowler with a spell of 3 for 54 and Mark Lee kept the runs in check going for less than two runs in each of his 12 overs as well as collecting the valuable scalp of Richard Harris.
Whitland went for the runs initially, but gradually put up the shutters as wickets fell and Cresselly won the match with one ball to spare when Andrew Williams was trapped with his pads in front of the wicket by skipper Richard Harris.
Colin John held the innings together with 35 and was backed up Rhidian Harries with 21, David Lee with 19 and Paul Webb with 18.
Lawrenny were bowled out for 133 at Hook after Julian Green had taken 4 for 21 and Gary Martin 3 for 21.
The main contributors to the Lawrenny total were opener Adrian Harries with 50 and Andrew Cole Junior who hit four 6s in his brief knock of 27 including three in succession off Julian Green.
Lawrenny put up a great fight but Hook had a narrow two wickets win in the last over largely due to the efforts of Jamie Phelps with 41 and Gary Martin with 25. Lawrenny skipper Robert Williams took 4 for 23 and all rounder Ian Jenkins took 2 for 17.
Pembroke had a disappointing day at St. Ishmaels after dismissing the home team for 184. Spinner Paul White took 4 for 53, pace man Jonathan Hyde 3 for 47 with other wickets going to Gwyn Griffiths and Martin Fletcher. For Tish Andrew Williams scored 47, Steven Williams 53 and Michael Symons 22.
A brilliant spell of 5 wickets for 6 runs by Jonathan Pawlett proved to be the downfall of the Pembroke team who were bowled out for 83 after Mark Fraser had scored 25. Steven Williams and Graham Salter chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Division Two
Carew Seconds had an impressive win at home to Johnston who were bowled out for 85 in response to a Carew Seconds total of 196 for 3.

In the Division Two match of the day at Lamphey, the visitors Saundersfoot had the Lamphey batsmen in all sorts of trouble at 27 for 4, but all rounder Hywel Gibbs led a Lamphey revival with his maiden century reaching 109 not out from 116 deliveries with 11 fours and two sixes. Gibbs scratched around for a while and survived a couple of chances, but as his innings blossomed he dominated the Lamphey innings with a splendid array of shots in a controlled batting display.
Steve Vale with 25 not out helped Gibbs add 66 during an unbroken ninth wicket partnership and Mark Yea was the other batsman with double figures with 15.
Wickets were shared amongst the Saundersfoot bowlers with Kevin Sykes taking 3 for 14 and there were two wickets each for David Parcell and Danny Caine.
When Saundersfoot replied Ian Poole had a brisk 22 and Paul Mansbridge exuded class in his innings of 37, which included eight fours. Apart from his usual trademark front foot drives Mansbridge also played wristy shots off his legs.
Saundersfoot were in the hunt when Mansbridge was at the crease but when he was bowled by Greg England the lower order eventually crumbled despite the efforts of Roger Stanford with a valiant 18 not out. Greg England ended with four for 30 for Lamphey and there were two wickets each for Tim Haggar and Hywel Gibbs.
Division Three
Manorbier travelled to Llechryd and were involved in a tense finish after being dismissed for 94. Kevin Evans with 4 for 9 backed up by Steve Curran
With 3 for 33 caused the damage despite the efforts of Neil Powling with 32, Mike May with 15 and Phil Lawrence with 14.
Llechryd openers Kevin Evans and Ray Hasler gave their team a good start with an opening partnership of 51. However when Hasler fell to a superb catch by Gareth Lawrence off the bowling of Justin Evans for 20 it triggered off a collapse. Kevin Evans held the innings together until he was run out by Neil Powling and it was left to the last pair of Brian Slark and Darren Davies to take Llechryd to a winning total of 97 for 9.
Justin Evans finished with 3 for 17 and Neil Powling took 2 for 24.

Division Six
In their first competitive game for over a year Kilgetty enjoyed a successful return to League action with a 10 wickets win against Llanrhian thirds at St. Davids.

Can you believe it?
Kilgetty all rounder Allen Hurst was looking forward to his first game of cricket since the 2001 season as he was travelling to St Davids with his Kilgetty team mates for their away fixture against Llanrhian thirds.
Enroute to St Davids, Allen received a telephone call from the police calling him back to his office as an alarm had gone off at his place of work.
He duly complied with the request and was driven back to Kilgetty by his nephew Craig Hurst.
On arriving at his office he left his kit bag outside so as to make a quick dash to St Davids.
Although the alarm fortunately turned out to be a false alarm Allen had to remain at the office until the alarm system was reset so he lost out on his game of cricket on Saturday.
To make matters worse when the police car drove off it drove over his cricket kit!
In Allen's absence from, club chairman Ted George took his place in the team and kept wicket at the age of 71!
