Pupils from Hook School recently took part in the annual Pembrokeshire cross country event.

Twenty-three pupils from Yrs 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the races. Yr 3 and 4 ran 800m and Yr 5 and 6 ran 1,300m. They all ran exceptionally well.

We don't like singling out one person in particular, but Maddie Managhan ran for her first time in Oakwood and came ninth, gaining a wonderful medal and we thank her for her effort.

Hook amazingly came 13th out of 52 schools!

Last Wednesday, the school's celebratory assembly was held, with our guests Corine Codd, Pete Freeman and Jessica Huddleston. They presented us with the small school shield for 2013; this is a great achievement, but knowing we have won it for the second time in a row is truly amazing.

We would like to say thank you to all the runners who took part in the races.

Headteacher Mr. Nick Allen said: "I am immensely proud of all the boys and girls who took part. It doesn't surprise me that we came 13th out of 52 schools, as in Hook CP School we are constantly challenging the children to be the best they can be. Winning the Small Schools Shield for the second consecutive year is a remarkable achievement, and reflects the hard work the pupils have put in. The pupils who took part championed our school values of co-operation, honesty and friendship. I would like to congratulate all pupils, parents and staff who helped to support the school in this successful event."
