A sponsored swim was held at Narberth swimming pool last Monday evening to raise funds for the Martin Roberts Children's Fund. The evening was a great success and in excess of £160 was raised. Jenny Price, pool manager, and Heidi Rourke each swam a mile.
The fund was set up 16 months ago and to date has raised over £28,000. The committee are at present looking into the prospect of helping towards the funding of nurse/counsellor trained in the field of child abuse.
This would be a unique position in Pembrokeshire, in fact the first in Wales.
The next large fund-raising event is a Summer Ball, taking place at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, on June 23.
