TWO New Quay RNLI crew members are preparing to swap the high seas for a seven-hour water ride- athon at Oakwood Theme Park. Ben Billingham, full-time mechanic and RNLI volunteer Ceri Knapgate visited the park last week which whet their appetite for the madcap challenge on Monday. The pair will be splitting their time riding the Park's three different water-based attractions over a seven-hour period, which will see them endure a total of 150 rides. They hope to raise a fund-raising fortune for the RNLI's Train one, save many campaign to provide vital training for RNLI lifeboat crew and lifeguards. Ben said: "We had a trial run, which was exhausting in itself, but the support from the public has been fantastic; I'm sure visitors will keep us going on Monday. As RNLI crew, we never quite know what to face when the call for help comes, but that didn't quite prepare us for the adrenaline boost on Hydro! Our RNLI crew kit will certainly come in handy, as we're ready for a real soaking."
