In the spring of 1996, Community Music Wales organised a series of musical events throughout the South Wales Valleys showcasing up-and-coming bands.

Entitled 'The Splash Tour', and featuring now household names, including Catatonia, The Super Furry Animals and Stereophonics (then known as Tragic Love Company), the tour was a huge success and was repeated with fresh artists, including Feed and 60ft doll,s in 1997.

Fast-forward to 2001 and Community Music Wales' new project Complete Control Music. Incorporating a record label and touring circuit of venues throughout The Valleys and South and West Wales, Complete Control Music has been promoting live gigs over the last two years.

The current Splash Tour 3 commenced on October 7 at Blackwood Miner's Institute as a celebration of the achievements of many of the artists progressing through the project.

It is due to roll in to Narberth tomorrow (Saturday), venue being the Queen's Hall.

The new breed of high profile signed Welsh bands including Mo-he-bish-e-pl, Manchild, Tetra Splendour, Terris and Murray The Hump are headlining the tour with an impressive supporting roster encompassing artists emerging through Complete Control Music, The New Deal for Musicians scheme and others drawn from indigenous labels.

The tour is also supported by local authority arts development units and Quadrant Broadcast who will be filming and web-casting the gigs as well as organising a series of music industry seminars at a number of the venues.

Make sure you don' miss it.
