Carew Airfield was propelled back in time to the days of World War II for an exciting two-day event over the weekend. Wings Over Carew celebrated and commemorated the valiant role played by the village's control tower and gave visitors the chance to experience the sights and sounds of those dark wartime days. The main exhibit was a Spitfire which has a complete original cockpit and a working Merlin engine which was fired up during the event. Here Deric Brock, chairman of the control tower group, with Mike Phillips (left), of Spitfirespares.com, of Taunton.
