On Tuesday, the Inner Wheel Club of Pembroke had a double celebration. Most of the members attended the meeting and were joined by the District chairman, Karen Davies, for a business meeting and then an excellent supper.
The club has been in existence 55 years and one of the members who has been collating the archives read out the minutes of the first meeting - it was very interesting and historical.
One member, Peggy Norris, who could not attend due to her frail health, was one of the original ladies.
President Evelyn talked about the various charities the club has supported this year - the last one being Pembroke Dock Guides. Each year several Guides take part in the Duke of Edinburgh awards and they need special equipment. The club were asked if it was possible to purchase some specialised rucksacks to replace ones which have worn out. It was agreed that five should be purchased and given to the Guides.
After the District chairman had talked to the club about her very busy year, including raising funds for her chosen charity, Air Ambulance Wales, president Evelyn presented a cheque to her for it.
At the end of the evening president Evelyn surprised everyone by bringing into the room a superb chocolate cake. The cake was cut and people had a piece with their tea/coffee.
