SpanJazz returns this month with one of the longest established jazz outfits in South Wales. SaxPax will be performing at Plas Hyfryd Hotel on Thursday, September 15, featuring Jim Luxton.

Made up of four saxophones, piano, bass and drums, SaxPax perform jazz classics and standards by composers and artists such as George Gershwin, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Weather Report and Stan Kenton.

The band was formed in 1983 as a sax quartet playing classical as well as jazz music. Thirty years on the band is still going strong! The music is varied and crosses over many of the styles of jazz, including swing, be-bop, Latin, West Coast, fusion etc.

A small band with a big sound, SaxPax have performed at most of the jazz venues in the region.

The hotel will be serving meals before 8 pm. Meals can be ordered for the interval (call Plas Hyfryd to arrange food).
