Recent results in the South Pembs. Clay League include the following:

Wisemans 221 Jeff 193. The strong Wisemans side continued their push for the league with a fine win over the Jeff team, with six out of seven scoring shooters scoring 30 or more.

Peter Rees was the Wisemans top shot with 35, whilst Peter Nock top scored for the Jeff with 31.

Competition in the Wisemans side is tough and judging by the score sheet, Gavin, Nick, Dai, Dylan, Ian and Geraint paid out scoring penalties.

Swan 203 Highgate 179. Driving over to Manorbier Newton on a wet Sunday morning, the landscape looked more like the Lake District than South Pembrokeshire!

Ray Blackmore honoured the Highgate team with his first appearance of the season and, looking at the expression on his face in the driving rain, it might be a rare one?

Emlyn Hallet with a fine 28 showed the rest of the Highgate how it's done and we think this performance might be recorded in his memoirs?

Steve Bowen dazzled the assembled team by wearing a 'Romanian Gypsy style headdress' - very fetching!

Mark Bowen top scored for the Swan with 35 and Bob Littler was top shot for the Highgate with 30 (his team are checking his medication for performance enhancing ingredients).

Quay 219 Jeff 159. Top shot for the Quay team was Mike Lewis with 34, whilst Clive Jenkins top scored for the Jeff by breaking 30 clays.

Wisemans 228 Swan 201. Top scoring shooters in this match were Paul Heywood and Stevie Bowen with 35 and 33, respectively.

Lodge 194 Highgate 171. Gareth Irvine was top shot for the Lodge with 33, but Paul Goodrick managed to top that with 34, even though he was nearly a non-starter!

Chris Wigginton and Emlyn Hallet, both recovered from their mud larks the day before, assisted a much-depleted Highgate side in mustering together a team after only two were present at the start!

With all the recent rain, the last stand presented the shooters with a lake in the quarry rising to an alarming level and Lodge captain Jim Walwyn nearly had to be rescued by the inshore rescue team as he collected pick-ups!

Mariners 218 Lodge 170. Top shots in this match were Gwyn Morgan with 34 and Dai Shakesby, Gareth Irvine and Jonathan Irvine, all scoring 27.

Quay 235 Mariners 230. Steve Cole with 36 for the Quay and Dylan Morris with 37 for the Mariners enjoyed the top shots bragging rights for this match.

Jeff 156 Highgate 163. In blizzard conditions on Sunday, January 10, this bottom-of-the-table local derby took place and Paul Goodrick top scored with 30 for the Highgate team, whilst for the Jeff Mel Matthews kept the pressure on with 29.

The Jeff team had obviously been impressed by a West End musical and presented the two teams with multi-coloured clays which more resembled a snooker match? But when white clays came out at random in a thick white snow storm, we knew that Mr. Malcolm Tucker had hatched a cunning strategy back in August and had been tipped off about the recent snowfall!

However, a warm and nourshing welcome was received by all back at the Jeffreyston Inn.
