Tomorrow (Saturday), the branch is holding its annual show at Bangeston Garden Centre, by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Meyrick. The show field is signposted just off the A477 near Pembroke Dock and is open to riders of all ages and abilities, not just pony club members.

Once again this year, the show is a qualifier for the SWPA Championships which are held at the David Broome Event Centre near Chepstow in September. All the Mountain and Moorland, Show Hunter Pony and Ridden Show Pony Classes along with most of the Working Hunter, Ridden Hunter and Riding Horse Classes are SWPA qualifiers.

This year, the show is also a qualifier for the PSJS Show Jumping classes at the Pembrokeshire County Show.

In order to qualify, riders must go double clear in their class and be riding in the correct class for their age and pony height.

The first qualifying class is the 12.2 open where ponies must not exceed 12.2 and riders must be 12 years and under on the day of the County Show. The 13.2 open qualifier is for ponies exceeding 12.2, but not exceeding 13.2 ridden by riders 14 years and under on the day of the County Show. Whilst the 14.2 open qualifier is restricted to ponies exceeding 13.2, but not exceeding 14.2 and riders must be 16 years and under on the day of the County Show.

As well as the qualifying classes, there are a range of show jumping classes for riders of all ages and abilities from the Tiny Tots for riders eight years and under ( jumps not exceeding one-foot in the second round), through to range of junior classes from one-foot six up to two-foot nine. Whilst for the senior riders there is a Novice Horse(not exceeding two-foot three in second round), Intermediate and Open Horse Class.

There is also a wide selection of novelty classes with lots for the younger rider. This year there are more classes than ever including the ever popular pony club pony, handy pony, Thelwell, fancy dress and child handler classes.

Entries will be taken on the field at £5 per class and there will also be a caterer and tack stall in attendance. For further information on classes or a schedule, please contact Dawn Harries on 01646 651320.
