It was an extremely busy half-term for the members of South Pembrokeshire Hunt branch of the Pony Club. The branch organised a range of ridden and dismounted activities throughout the week.
On Monday, riders enjoyed a Working Hunter Clinic at Mallards Reach Equestrian Centre. The branch would like to thank Jen and Amy James for organising this excellent session.
A number of riders from the branch also attended a cross country training session on the Monday at Pembrey. This was organised by Area 18.
On Wednesday, nearly 40 members and their families enjoyed a day out visiting the mounted police headquarters in Bridgend. The group spent a couple of hours shopping at McArthur Glen Shopping outlet before visiting the stables, meeting the horses and their riders, as well a briefly seeing the police dogs. Everyone enjoyed the trip and the children would like to thank Mrs. Lorna Williams for organising the day out.

Thousands of ultra low emission vehicles registered in Pembrokeshire – as campaigners group call for more equal access across UKOn Friday, the branch held its annual Hallowe'en ride at West Orielton Farm, kindly hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Simon. Over 30 members enjoyed riding through the woods and across the fields. This was followed by refreshments and a dismounted spooky fancy dress competition. Congratulations to the winners, who were Teagan Dinan, Eirian Edwards and the Edwards family.
On Sunday, nine competitors from South Pembs took part in the Vale of Taf triathlon. The competition, which involves shooting, running and swimming, was organised to introduce new riders to the sport, as well as training current competitors in preparation for the winter triathlon series.
Competing in the Minimus Girls Competition were Anna and Emma Morgan. As the youngest competitor in the event, Emma recorded promising scores in all disciplines to come an excellent sixth out of 14 competitors. Meanwhile, big sister Anna won the swim convincingly and came second overall.
Edward and Charlie Andrews, Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, Fred Meyrick and Lorcan Williams were competing in the Minimus Boys. Fred won the shooting with an excellent 960 out of a maximum 1,000, while Jack won both the swim and run. Overall it was almost a clean sweep for South Pembs., with Jack once again coming first, Fred second, Edward fourth, Charlie fifth and Lorcan sixth.
Bea Bea Meyrick and Emily Pellington were competing in the Junior and Senior Girls competitions. Bea won all the disciplines in the juniors to come first, while Emily won all the senior disciplines, also to come first!
