Six riders from the South Pembrokeshire Hunt Branch of the Pony Club took part in the Area 18 Tetrathlon at Pembrey last weekend. The competition is made up of shooting, swimming, running and cross country riding.
Alice Simon, Cethin Ravenhill and Harriet Morgan made up the junior girl's team. Although the entries for the competition were lower than usual, the competition was as strong as ever with some very high scores recorded. The girls all did extremely well to come third in the team competition.
Alice and Cethin both went clear in the riding to come a well deserved fourth and sixth overall. This is Harriet's first season in juniors, and whilst she is not yet in the rosettes at this level, she also competed in the hunter trials on Sunday at Pembrey and came fifth in an extremely large class.
Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, Anna Morgan and Lorcan Williams were joined in their Minimus Team by Nicole Elsdon from neighbouring Vale of Taf Pony Club. All four recorded some very high scores to comfortably win the team competition.
Meanwhile, Jack and Lorcan competed against each other in the Minimus boys. Jack won the shoot, swim and run, as well as recording a clear round in the ride to win the event. Lorcan recorded excellent personal bests in the swim and run as well as a good ride to come second.
Competition was fierce in the Minimus girls with some very high scores recorded in all disciplines. Anna did extremely well to record excellent personal bests in the swim and run, as well as a good ride to come third overall.
