Eleven competitors from South Pembrokeshire Hunt branch of the Pony Club recently travelled to Brecon to compete in a tetrathlon organised by the Brecon and Talybont Pony Club. On the Saturday, the competitors took part in shooting, running and swimming, while on the Sunday, they competed in cross country riding. Due to injuries, Emily Pellington was the only South Pembs. competitor in the senior girls competition and Ele Scourfield was the only one in the minimus girls. Emily came first in both the shoot and swim and came third in the team event, while Ele once again did well to win the shooting. Alice Simon, Cethin Ravenhill, Bea Bea Meyrick and Harriet Morgan competed in the junior girls. All the girls did extremely well to come second in the team competition, while Alice also came third in the individual with a clear round on her pony Bertie. The minimus boys team was made up of Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, Edward Andrews, Edward Hurle, Fred Meyrick and Lorcan Williams. All the boys did extremely well to come sixth in the team event. Whilst Edward Hurle came fifth overall, and Jack once again did superbly to win the shooting and the running, get a clear round in the riding and come first overall. Well done Jack! The branch is currently organising the annual branch show due to take place at Bangeston, near Pembroke, on Saturday, May 17. The show is open to riders of all ages and includes a variety of working hunter, showing, show jumping and novelty classes. This year, the show is also a qualifying show for the SWPA Championships.
