A team from South Pembrokeshire Hunt branch of the Pony Club recently competed in the first of the winter area triathlon competitions held in Carmarthen.
The event, which involves shooting, swimming and running, attracted nearly 100 competitors from across South Wales.
Competing in the minimus boys event (12 years and under) were Jack Goldsworthy Spuffard, Edward Andrews, Fred Meyrick, Charlie Andrews and Lorcan Williams. All the boys did extremely well with Jack coming first in the shooting, closely followed by Lorcan. Jack and Charlie recorded excellent personal bests in the swim, with Jack and Edward recording superb personal bests in the run. Meanwhile, Fred did well in all disciplines to come fourth overall, whilst Jack did brilliantly to come first overall. Well done Jack!
Ele Scourfield, Anna Morgan and Abigail Meyrick were competing in the minimus girls. Ele came first in the shoot, Anna first in the swim and Abi recorded an excellent run. Overall, Abi just missed out on the rosettes coming seventh, whilst Ele came sixth and Anna fourth.
The junior girls team (15 years and under) was made up of Alice Simon, Cethin Ravenhill, Harriet Morgan and Isabell Meyrick. Harriet and Izzy were competing for the first time as juniors and both recorded some very promising scores. Cethin recorded an excellent run and a good swim, whilst Alice did extremely well to come an excellent third overall.
Finally, unfortunately due to exams, Emily Pellington was the only South Pembs. competitor in the senior girls. Emily came joint first in the swim and did very well to come third overall.
