Pembrokeshire Hogspital have been given a welcome boost from South Hook LNG in Milford Haven.

“We'd like to thank South Hook LNG for their donation, and especially Paul for choosing our little Hedgehog rescue. Very many thanks,” shared Ginny from the hedgehog rescue and rehabilitation centre based in Haverfordwest.

Mariam Dalziel, PR Manager at South Hook LNG Terminal Company Ltd, said that it was lovely to visit the centre and hear about the wonderful work that Russ and Ginny are doing for the County’s fabulous wildlife.

“We are delighted to have been able to donate £500 to Pembrokeshire Hogspital, as a result of Paul Davies having submitted a successful ‘Improvement Suggestion’ for our business,” said Mariam.

“If such suggestions are taken forward, we invite the person who had the idea to nominate a local community group or charity, to receive a financial reward. We hope it will be useful to your work!”

The Pembrokeshire Hogspital was founded by Ginny and Russ of Sutton West Farm, near Haverfordwest. The non-profit organisation rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs and hoglets and help return them to the wild.

All donations made to the organisation go towards helping the hedgehogs.

The ICU is within the couple’s farmhouse, meaning they can keep a close eye on the patients around the clock. The centre’s Primrose Ward is a purposefully built outbuilding in the garden, where hogs will be moved once they require less care before release.

According to new data released during ‘Hedgehog Awareness Week’ in May - 25% of all Brits have never seen a hedgehog in its natural habitat. And it’s a problem that seems to be getting worse, with experts stating that numbers have declined by 75% since the year 2000!
