On May, the St Mary's Soupermen group had the privilege of gastronomically entertaining Bishop Wyn and the St David's Deanery. Weeks of planning culminated in the Soupermen putting on a five-course meal. The menu, finally chosen after hours of meetings, deliberation and discussion was as follows:
First course: Mushroom soup with croutons; or orange juice
Second course: Paupiette of plaice with asparagus and white wine sauce.
Third course: Lamb shank on a bed of creamed potato; or pan seared fillet of salmon sprayed with a Mediterranean sauce - both served with seasonal vegetables.
Fourth course: Crepes with peaches and raspberry sauce or Grand Marnier.
Fifth course: Cheese board; followed by tea/coffee and mints
All agreed the evening had been a most enjoyable one, with the Soupermen's efforts much appreciated by all. The Bishop thanked all concerned and looked forward to another culinary delight in the not too distant future.
The next Soupermen meal will be on June 9 to celebrate the Queen's Coronation 60th Anniversary Dinner - another luscious feast by the Soupermen at Church House. Details will be published soon.
