Sir,

Re. Extra vacuumed streets, but poor loos.

I'm writing in response to Geoff Perfitt's letter dated Friday, June 17. I am a member of the British Toilet Association (http://www.britloos.co.uk">www.britloos.co.uk) and was very disappointed to learn that Tenby, which attracts so many visitors, should have unpleasant toilet facilities. Unfortunately, visitors remember their toilet experiences and word spreads.

Needing a toilet is not a choice and if toilets are not well maintained, then areas not designated for the purpose will be used with all the associated implications - costs of cleaning up and hygiene to name but two - and visitors don't return.

Hopefully this sorry tale is a one-off and Tenby will continue to welcome its visitors and cater for their needs - and once this matter is sorted may even considering entering the Loo of the Year Awards!

Gillian Kemp,

Hatfield.
