Recently, SI Tenby’s immediate past president Iris Davies was delighted to be able to present a cheque for £1,120 to Sara Pilkington, who received the cheque on behalf of Tenovus, one of Iris’s nominated charities during her year of office.

This impressive amount was raised from two major charity events organised by SI Tenby. The first was SI Tenby’s ‘Light up the Night’ sponsored charity walk held last summer. SI Tenby president Iris Davies, accompanied by fellow Soroptimists, led the candlelit walk through the town and along the North Walk. A bucket collection was carried out by members of the Trefoil Guild. This, coupled with the sponsorship money, raised a considerable amount for Tenovus.

The second event was SI Tenby’s annual fashion show which was held at Heywood Mount Spa Hotel, showcasing clothing and accessories from fashion outlet Edida J, of Newcastle Emlyn. The proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle also raised a large sum for Tenovus.

Tenovus is the leading cancer charity in Wales and brings treatment, emotional support and practical advice to all those affected by cancer, as well as carrying out crucial research.

SI Tenby would like to thank all those who supported the two events and therefore helped Tenovus to continue with their vital work in Wales.
