SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL

A business meeting of the club was held at the Cambrian Hotel, Saundersfoot on Tuesday, January 16. In the absence of president Joan, vice president Pam Maggs took the chair.

Aims and objectives were read by Margaret James. Apologies were received from Eleanor, Audrey, Dr Margaret Rosemary Proctor, Karen and Maralyn.

Vice president Pam read a message from president Joan which said "a very big thank you to everyone who helped make Saturday's Friendship Day such a huge success, I really feel proud to belong to the S.I. Tenby." All members agreed that it had been a most happy and successful day.

In her social report, Eiona thanked everyone for their help and said that over £400 had been donated on the Friendship Day and would be sent to Federation for the International Project to help victims of landmines.

Eiona also reported that the meeting on February 6 would be a supper meeting, a social committee meeting would be held before at 6.45 pm.

In the correspondence there were letters about Training Session in Barry on February 6.

A request from Social Services' Rose Bowen who was taking a family on holiday said that donations would be welcome and it was decided to give this consideration.

There was an invitation from the president of Tenby Inner Wheel to a speaker meeting on Operation Christmas Child on January 26.

A request was received for sponsorship for Bed Push for World Vision, It was decided that members could donate individually if they so wished.

Three members attended the Haverfordwest speaker meeting on January 17 while three members would also be attending the Llanelli Luncheon, on February 11.

A letter of thanks had been received from one of the recipients of the Christmas Hampers.

Vice president Pam then read out her suggestions for next year's programme.

Details were discussed for the concert and refreshments at the De Valence on March 3 in aid of the Martin Roberts Fund Appeal for abused children. Entertainment would be by Tenby Male Voice Choir.
