A LOCAL teenager has been issued with the millionth CitizenCard. Hollyoaks star Nick Pickard presented the millionth card to 16-year-old Sophie Cowley from Tenby, who applied for the ID card after being refused permission to buy a lottery ticket. More than one-in-10 teenagers in the UK now hold a CitizenCard, a figure predicted to increase significantly over the next 12 months, as a growing number of organisations recognise the card as a valid form of ID. Explaining why she applied for her card, millionth cardholder Sophie Cowley, said: "I was buying a lottery ticket and was asked to prove I was 16. I had nothing with my date of birth on it, and it was really embarrassing. I don't want to carry my passport around, so my friends suggested getting a CitizenCard." CitizenCard is already the UK's largest and fastest growing ID scheme, recognised by retailers, airlines (for domestic flights), local authorities and Government departments.
