A total of 1,600 entries were received for Ironman Wales 2010, although when the hooter sounded to signal the start of the event, the number of competitors taking part was in the region of 1,400.

Of those, 109 came from within the local SA postcode area, the remainder coming from far and wide, including no fewer than 400 from overseas, including the winner, Sylvian Rota from France.

On average, it is estimated that each athlete also had a following of four supporters and family - so quite a crowd in Tenby and South Pembrokeshire over the weekend.
