A 24-hour 60-mile walk in six 10-mile loops is how three friends marked the summer solstice.

The trio, Clare Campbell, Kerry Brace, Gill Cripwell, organised the Solstice 60, a charity walk and challenge, raising funds for local playgroup SNAP and overseas charity Plan International who supplied their hi vis-vests.

All three are members of the Croft Holiday Park, Reynalton, gym, health and fitness classes.

Explained Gill:?“The Croft supported throughout our walk which started and finished there in our loops. Each loop, friends joined us for their 10-mile walk of support and their own personal achievement.?We had support on each loop and en route, friends supplied food, drinks and moral support.

“Tyla Brace (third on left in the photo) joined us for the last 30 miles - she just kept on walking!

“It was a challenge we were always going to finish. There were sore legs, blisters, moans and groans on the last 10 miles and many surreal moments. Radio 2 with Simon Mayo and Jo Wiley mentioned SOLSTICE 60 on their programme which was a great boost, but we must give a very huge thank you to our family, friends and The Croft, Reynalton, the police, who supported us throughout - we could not have done it without you, Let’s do it again next year!”
