AN exhibition of recent drawings and paintings by Pembrokeshire artist Guy Manning opens in Narberth next weekend.

The event at the Queen's Hall opens next Saturday, March 8, and is Guy's first solo exhibition.

The paintings and drawings are primarily shaped by the land, light and water around his home. His travels in the Pyrenees, Ireland and Nepal provide a broader scope, whilst reinforcing the work's beginnings.

The ambiguous, drifting and sometimes unsettling relationship between the elements are a necessary characteristic of Guy's work; it conveys isolation, looking out and standing in the wider places.

Since graduating with First Class honours in Fine Art (sculpture) 10 years ago, Guy has worked in a variety of environments, including residencies, colleges, sculpture parks and public gardens.

He now works in a range of media, including acrylic, oil, charcoal and graphite. His work has been exhibited in Wales, England and Germany and work was selected for last year's Welsh National Eisteddfod in St. David's.

The exhibition marks a significant stage in Guy Manning's career and runs until March 29.
