AN evening out proved more than a little surprising for Julia Barnes, of Jameston, when she was persuaded to go along to Tenby Sailing Club on Monday, November 10, for a quiet drink.
It was there that SOGO, the Supporters of Greenhill Orchestra, were holding their meeting, away from their normal venue at the school. In fact, a surprise party had been planned for Julia to thank her, as she leaves her post as secretary of SOGO.
In her own inimitable way, Julia has literally masterminded the fund-raising and organisation of countless concerts and events during her five years as secretary of SOGO. Not only did she endear herself to all the members of the organisation, but also to the orchestral students, who were delighted to contribute to the collection in her honour.
Gifts were presented to Julia and her husband Gerald, a moment which proved emotional for everyone.
Although Julia will be helping with the production of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' to take place in February, she will be sorely missed at SOGO, not only for her amazing organisational skills, but also for her lively personality.
